This project was part of my education at the Interaction Design bachelor’s program at Malmö Högskola in 2011. The goal of this project was to explore novel ways of navigating 3D environments. I started the brainstorming process with my group and came up with the concept of using dual microphones to drive vehicles. using the left mic to indicate turning left and the right mic to indicate turning right, using both at the same time to accelerate. To accomplish this we used regular Singstar microphones, built small amplifier circuits and used an Arduino to handle the data and send commands to the computer.
This remains one of my favorite projects where I explored a novel form of interaction, used video editing to illustrate a concept and tested it using a wizard of oz method long before we developed the working prototype.
